Week 4 ended with more NFL stars going down with injuries. The NFL is trying to make the game safer with new rules that anger fans but so far this season it doesn’t seem to be any safer then last year with the injuries piling up. Week 4 saw one of the biggest stars in the NFL in Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton go down with a concussion. Newton was rushing in for a two point conversion when he suffered a helmet to helmet hit that left him in the concussion protocol. Newton is still in the protocol and its unsure if he will return for Monday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer was another quarterback that went down with a concussion in week 4. He was sacked with his head slamming against the turf which left him in the concussion protocol. The Cardinals play Thursday and it doesn’t look likely that Palmer will be back that soon.
The San Francisco 49ers star linebacker NaVorro Bowman suffered a torn left Achilles that has left him out for the season. Bowman is no stranger to coming back from injury after having surgery on the same knee two years ago. This will badly hurt the 49ers defense.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers star defensive tackle Gerald McCoy suffered an injury scare after he was seen in a walking boot after suffering a calf injury in their game against the Denver Broncos. It was later determined that it was a calf strain and he could possibly return for their game against the Carolina Panthers Monday night. With week 5 preparations starting we will see which if any NFL stars go down this week.
