It took only 5 weeks for the marriage between DraftKings and ESPN to be called off. The two signed a deal that made DraftKings the exclusive daily fantasy sports operator of ESPN. It meant that only DraftKings would be able to advertise on ESPN. FanDuel and other daily fantasy sports operators would not be able to advertise on ESPN. DraftKings whose TV ads have annoyed fans because of how often they are seen during NFL telecasts is believed to have been the ones to call it off with ESPN due to the high cost of advertising exclusively with them. FanDuel has not taken advantage of now being able to advertise on ESPN as they have run no ads as of this time. It could be because the most popular daily fantasy sport is NFL football and they will not return until August with preseason games. Don’t feel bad for DraftKings as you will still be annoyed by their high volume of advertising although they also don’t advertise as much during other sport seasons as they do when the NFL season kicks off.
